Personal statement: Nicole earned her bachelor’s in criminology, law, and society from UC Irvine and her MSW from USC. She is currently a research & assessment specialist through Florida State University’s School of Social Work’s Institute for Justice and Research Development. Nicole Thompson has clinical experience providing individual and group-based substance use treatment to youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Additionally, Nicole worked on a longitudinal research study designed to increase HIV education and prevention among young adults experiencing homelessness. As a student worker, Nicole was a team lead for the the Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, helping to gather data on individuals experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles. It is with these experiences that Nicole is passionate in eliminating the disparities prevalent within justice involvement and homelessness.
